What is the Nonprofit Herald?
The Nonprofit Herald is a hyperlocal digital media experiment created to investigate, document, and promote the charitable community in the Washington, DC area. Inspired by the Knight Foundation’s News Challenge, DC nonprofit leader, blogger and professor Rosetta Thurman decided to address the need for a more centralized portal for local nonprofit news and information. With little coverage from major news outlets like the Washington Post, Washington Business Journal and others, nonprofit leaders often lack exposure and knowledge about what’s happening and who’s doing what in the greater DC community. Not anymore. The Nonprofit Herald is dedicated to making sure that local nonprofits are always on the front page. Always.
